Summary
- Dr. Ashley Wysong is an accomplished executive leader, a nationally recognized Mohs micrographic surgeon, a translational skin cancer researcher and a dedicated mentor. Dr. Wysong joined Mayo Clinic as a Senior Associate Consultant and Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery in Jacksonville, Florida in 2025. Dr. Wysong served as Founding Chairman, Tenured Professor and the William W. Bruce MD Distinguished Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 2018 to 2024 and remains on emeritus faculty. Dr. Wysong was recruited to envision and build the clinical, education, research, and service/outreach programs for dermatology. She recruited 20 board-certified dermatologists to Nebraska, launched the dermatology residency program in 2019, developed comprehensive medical student and graduate educational programs, created a foundational research infrastructure, and built comprehensive dermatology clinical programs at Nebraska Medicine, Children's Nebraska, and at the VA Hospital where she was Chief of Dermatology. While at UNMC, Dr. Wysong served as Director of the Skin Cancer Program at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (FPBCC) and was involved in healthcare systemwide leadership at Nebraska Medicine. Prior to her roles at UNMC, Dr. Wysong was Director of Mohs & Dermatologic Surgery at University of Southern California. Dr. Wysong has an outstanding educational background receiving her B.S. in biology, psychology, and chemistry at the University of Missouri where she was a 6-Time All-American and National Champion in Track and Field. After running professionally for Nike, Dr. Wysong earned her master’s degree in Epidemiology from Stanford University and her medical degree from Duke University, where she graduated as valedictorian. She then completed her dermatology residency at Stanford, serving as chief resident. Dr. Wysong's fellowship in Mohs & Procedural Dermatology was at Scripps Clinic.
