Overview of Dr. Milrod
Barbara Milrod, MD, is a psychiatrist based in New York, NY, specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. She completed her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and her residency in Psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell Campus) after graduating from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1984. She is currently a professor of Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and serves as Director of Affect Focused Psychotherapy research at the Psychiatric Research Institute of Montefiore Einstein (PRIME). Dr. Milrod has expertise in psychodynamic psychotherapy in adults and children and has conducted research on trauma-focused psychodynamic psychotherapy (TFPP), a time-limited, evidence based psychodynamic psychotherapy for PTSD that she developed and operationalized, and developed, operationalized, and efficacy tested the only form of efficacious psychodynamic psychotherapy for panic disorder, which is reflected in her publications and involvement in multiple clinical trials as a principal investigator.
