Summary
- I grew up in Montreal, Canada, where I completed medical school. I was then awarded Canada's most prestigious research fellowship to pursue graduate studies with top scholars including a Nobel laureate in Pittsburgh, USA, combining Theoretical Artificial Intelligence and Pure Mathematics. I then completed my medical training in Pittsburgh and at Harvard, and started my academic career at the University of Michigan. My NIH funded research has been focusing on medical imaging in cardiac electrophysiology. In 2008, I joined Penn in Philadelphia, an Ivy League institution, and continued to climb the academic ladder. After the Philadelphia medical system started rapidly collapsing, I was recruited back to Canada under the prestigious pathway of Distinguished Professor that Canada uses to recruit international scientific superstars. I now work as Professor of Radiology at my alma mater, the University of Montreal (CHUM). I am also a medical advisor for the Quebec government. I am very active in numerous scientific societies, especially RSNA, AHA and ACR.
I am both a specialist and a polymath. I am an academic radiologist, but I pursue many activities outside radiology. I have expertise in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (my PhD area), expertise in Cybersecurity, and have been a programmer and (white hat) hacker for decades. I have advanced knowledge in mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering and biology. I am a Black Belt at Tae Kwon Do, a Boy Scout leader, a competitive marksman, and a freestyle FPV drone pilot and drone racer (pilot name: MuD PhuD). I am also a member of the prestigious Mega Society and Prometheus Society.
I have three main areas of activities, in which I work and on which I speak nationally and internationally: (1) Cardiovascular Imaging, (2) Cybersecurity in Healthcare, and (3) Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.
