Summary

  • I have had a wide variety of experiences and specialties since becoming a PA in 2003.

I am a NHSC scholar and have committed my career to underserved populations. I began in the Federal Bureau of Prisons Referral Hospital where I was assigned to a 300 bed forensics mental heamlth unit. I then worked on an internal medicine inpatient unit that cared for oncology patients (including end of life), complex wounds and a variety of challenging patients. I then worked in the primary care outpatient setting in a prison that specialized in complex medical inmates.

I then moved to California to serve as the Deputy Medical Director for Yosemite National Park. For 6 years I staffed (oftentimes solo) the remote medical clinic in the park. I also served as deputy medical director for the Yosemite Search and Rescue as well as Yosemote Emergency Services. I frequently participated in search and rescue/wilderness operations and provided medical direction to Rangers.

I am now a general surgery PA serving the Native American population in Phoenix, AZ. I have experience in first assisting and pre and post operative management of surgical patients. We handle a large amount of wound care including necrotizing fasciitis. I am well versed at bedside I&D and PICC line placement.
