Dr. Coffey’s innovative work on “Perfect Depression Care” has been widely cited as a model for health care transformation, and its audacious goal of “Zero Suicides” has become an international movement, honored by The Joint Commission (2006 Codman Award), the American Psychiatric Association (APA) (2006 Gold Achievement Award), the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (2011), and by his appointment to the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (2011).

    Dr. Coffey is also a community activist and advocate for a sustainable environment, safe gun ownership, and lifelong social and emotional learning (SEL). Dr. Coffey is the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Sciences degree from Wofford College (2014), the college's greatest honor, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Neuropsychiatric Association, the association's highest honor.
