Summary
- I’m a primary care physician at Northwest Permanente in Salem, Oregon and I can honestly say I love my job. I chose this work because I believe patients deserve coordinated, affordable, high-quality care—and physicians deserve a practice environment where our clinical judgment is trusted.
In my role as Primary Care Area Director, I get to help remove barriers, connect people and systems, and make it easier for physicians to do the right thing for their patients. Part of this work includes implementing RESET as a Primary Care Redesign. This model reduces burnout, improves physician autonomy, and increases fulfillment and retention – I truly believe it’s the answer to the ever-increasing challenges we face in primary care.
My primary care physicians enjoy:
✅ Employer-funded pension/retirement contributions totaling 21% of eligible earnings
✅ Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) eligibility
✅ Seamless collaboration with specialty care – no prior authorizations!
✅ Comprehensive health and dental benefits
✅ True PTO – when you’re off, you’re off!
✅ Up to 250K of hiring incentives available
One of the things I value most about Northwest Permanente is that it is physician-led in a way that matters day-to-day. We’re part of the largest self-governed, independent multispecialty medical group in Oregon and Southwest Washington, and we practice within an integrated system designed to support both patients and physicians. That means no RVU pressure, no call, no prior authorizations getting between you and the care plan you believe is right, and a team-based model that lets you collaborate across specialties without unnecessary friction.
If you’re an FM/IM physician looking for a place to practice the way you were trained, I would love to talk with you. NWP offers a strong compensation and rewards package, but the reason I stay is bigger than that: I get to work with an exceptional team in a model that respects and rewards physicians.
