Summary

  • I am a board certified vascular/endovascular surgeon, now in my 31st year of practice. My practice is centered at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Georgia. I was recruited to a leadership role in vascular services at Piedmont Heart in 2012. During that time, my colleagues and I expanded the practice significantly, with special interest in cardiovascular emergency services. I served in that capacity until April 2022, stepping aside from intra-institutional leadership. I continue to enjoy an active clinical practice in vascular and endovascular surgery as well as both major and outpatient venous disease.

One of my primary practice interests is management of major venous thromboembolic disorders. I have had a major leadership role in the Piedmont Atlanta Pulmonary Embolism Response Team since my arrival here in 2012. I have an active PE interventional practice. I was site PI here for the OPTALYSE PE trial. Additionally, I have significant clinical practice focusing on inferior vena cava filter complications, IVC thrombosis, and iliofemoral venous thrombosis. Modalities that I have used and/or introduced at Piedmont include EKOS, AngioVac, FlowTriever, Penumbra Indigo, and ClotTriever. I have extensive experience with catheter-directed thrombolysis. I have been site P.I. here for the VIVO and ABRE venous stent clinical trials.

The majority of my clinical practice remains devoted to arterial disease with major focus in carotid endarterectomy, TCAR, percutaneous EVAR and open abdominal aneurysm repair, percutaneous, hybrid and open limb revascularization, and surgical treatment for thoracic outlet syndrome.

I am active in a number of societies including the SVS, SAVS, and the PERT Consortium (Board of Directors, ending October 2019). I presently serve as President of the Georgia Vascular Society. This year, I complete a three-year term as Regional Medical Director, Southeastern Vascular Study Group of the Vascular Quality Initiative.
