Summary
- I am a board-certified Emergency Physician currently employed full-time as the Senior Director of Global Medical & Scientific Affairs in the Point of Care division of Abbott Laboratories. I had previously been a Medical Director in Global Clinical & Medical Affairs at Teleflex Inc. I have practiced Emergency Medicine for over 27 years and am still clinically active on a part-time basis as an Attending Physician at Lenox Health Greenwich Village Emergency Department (affiliated with Northwell Health's Lenox Hill Hospital) in New York City. I previously held a part-time faculty position as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Kansas Health System. Prior to that, I had practiced full-time in a busy community hospital in a suburb of Kansas City and had over a decade of service as an EMS Medical Director in Johnson County, KS, as well as the Medical Director of the 911 Emergency Communications Center.
My focus has been on delivering quality patient care and improving outcomes, and I particularly enjoy providing peer-to-peer education through lecture presentations and speaking engagements at the local, regional, national, and international level. I have been lead instructor at multiple airway management and vascular access skills workshops sponsored by Teleflex, as well as hundreds of EM/EMS procedural cadaver labs, both in the U.S. as well as internationally. Now, at Abbott Point of Care, my interests are focused on raising clinician awareness about the value of point-of-care lab diagnostics, especially when using novel brain biomarkers in the assessment of patients with mild traumatic brain injury.
