Summary

  • Legal system has been out of control in this country since 1990s. Over the past decade, it has gone out of control for physicians as both state and federal prosecutors have misapplied statutory language to criminalize lawful physician conduct. As a result, United States is now the only country in the world mass incarcerating physicians for conduct related to professional practice. As the opioid crisis have deepened, prosecutors have capitalized on this crisis for their personal agenda. It is well overdue that as physicians, we recognize that the criminal legal system is nothing more than one blind leading another blind- one blind being the prosecutor and the other blind being the physician's own defense attorney. Physicians Against Abuse is the only organization of its kind to stop the mass incarceration of physicians where state and federal prosecutors have been criminalizing lawful physician conduct to serve a prosecutorial agenda.
