Dr. Knight earned his BS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in 1991 and his MD from the University of Virginia in 1995. After a surgical internship at the University of Virginia, he served on active duty in the United States Air Force as a Flight Surgeon for four years. He returned to civilian training in 2000 and completed his general surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital, where his research focused on applications of surgical robotics to fetal surgery and microsurgery. He completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Michigan, then joined the surgical staff at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in 2007, where he practiced for more than a decade before moving to his current role at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital.
He is board certified in General Surgery (2006) and Pediatric Surgery (2008), and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). He has presented for the Nicklaus Children's Hospital General Pediatric Review and Self-Assessment course and serves as an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor in South Florida.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Knight provides medical-legal expert review and peer review through Cool Kids Consulting LLC, supporting attorneys, insurers, and hospital quality committees on pediatric surgery matters.
