Summary
- Dr. Crystal Beal, the QueerDoc, achieved Board Certification in Family Medicine. They have completed additional training in queer and gender care. They find providing care within their LGBTQAI2S community brings them joy. QueerDoc provides an exciting and rewarding platform for Dr. Beal to engage with their chosen family. As the physician and founder of QueerDoc, one of the first online queer and gender healthcare providers, Dr. Beal hopes to improve access to culturally competent care for their community. Dr. Beal also provides gender affirming care specialty consults with XpertCare.
Dr. Beal attended Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida. While there, they helped found the LGBTQAI2S medical student group in order to raise awareness of LGBTQAI2S health issues. The group also improved training of future doctors regarding queer culture and health. After completing their Medical Degree in 2012, they attended internship and residency at Valley Family Medicine Residency Program. They graduated residency training in 2015. Now based in Seattle, they continued to see gaps in care for their queer community, so they decided to start QueerDoc to improve access to care. Currently serving Washington, they have dreams of growing service to several more states as an online queer and gender healthcare provider.
Personally, Dr. Beal stays involved with their queer community through local performing arts, social dancing, support groups, and fitness at gyms with non-discriminatory clothing policies. Their partner, Steph, joins them in dancing and daily life. Dr. Beal’s immediate queer family is rounded-out by their beloved dog, Zooey.
