Summary

  • I am a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). In October 2013, I was accepted into an NP Hospitalist Fellowship Program at Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) in Charlotte, NC. The first three months of the Fellowship I rotated through all the Intensive Care Units (ICU's) at CHS. The remaining nine months, I completed the fellowship with the Carolinas Hospitalist Group (CHG). In October 2014, I accepted a full-time position as an NP with CHG. I have been working as a Hospitalist NP since.

    My nursing career history:
I have been a registered nurse (RN) for over 15 years, with over 20 years of clinical experience. Most of my clinical experience has been at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). I started working at MUSC at age 20 while attending MUSC's College of Nursing. My first four years of employment was on the Nephrology/Urology/Transplant unit as the unit secretary and patient care tech while working on my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

I graduated with my BSN in December 1997. In January 1998, I started working on the Heart & Vascular Progressive Care Unit at MUSC as an RN.

In 2000, I started working on my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) & transferred to the Surgical/Trauma ICU at MUSC to gain ICU experience. After two years, I started working as needed (prn) in the emergency department (ED). I enjoyed the fast-pace & diversity of patients that I saw in the ED & decided to make a transition to the ED full time. August 2004, I graduated from MUSC earning my MSN. I continued to work in the ED up until 2007, when I accepted a full time faculty position teaching at Trident Technical College (TTC) in the Nursing Program while continuing a prn status in 1 West ED at MUSC. After 6-years working as full time faculty & clinical instructor, I made the decision to obtain my board certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. It was June 2013 when I obtained my board certification.
