- My name is Daniel, and I am a medical doctor (M.D.) with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Epidemiology, currently training as a resident physician in Internal Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY, USA. I graduated with honors from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in 2017 and from Universidad Cayetano Heredia in 2019, ranking seventh and first in my class, respectively.
My clinical experience is diverse and includes my training in diverse public and private health centers in Lima during medical school, 1 month of clinical elective in Portugal, my intern year in a public hospital working in inpatient settings, 1 year of rural service as primary care physician, 2 years as general physician in the emergency room of a private medical center, 1 month as clinician in an outpatient medicine consultation, and 5.5 months of clinical rotations in four states of the United States (NJ, NY, AZ, FL).
My background also includes extensive research and teaching experience, including my master’s in Epidemiology, about fifteen peer-reviewed publications mainly focused on cardiovascular diseases, my training as a research fellow in CRONICAS Center of Excellence in Chronic Diseases, and four years of teaching Biostatistics in a master program in Peru. I have also worked as an epidemiologist in the public health system of my home country. My volunteering experience includes one year volunteering at the "San Fernando Teaching Health Center of the San Fernando Medical School" and having participated in three one-week medical campaigns organized by "Healing the Children" and the Peruvian American Medical Society. On a side note, I am passionate about playing soccer and traveling.
