Dr. Daniel Popowich is a General and Colon and Rectal Surgeon in Long Island NY and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including St. Francis Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, St. Catherine's and St. Joe's. He received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College. He completed a 7 year General Surgery program at Northwestern in Chicao Il and then completed an advanced Colorectal Fellowship at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC. He has been in practice 14 years. He specializes in colon & rectal surgery as well as many general surgical conditions. This includes expertise in Colorectal Cancer, diverticulitis, Inflammatory Bowel disease (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis), the surgical management of constipation and fecal incontinence, hemorrhoids fissures, abscess/fistula, condyloma, anal cancer amongst others. Within general surgery he performs hernia surgery (ranging from routine to extremely complex), gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, splenectomy amongst others. He has particular expertise in Minimally Invasive surgery. This includes not only laparoscopic surgery, but single incision laparoscopic surgery and Robotic Surgery. This allows patients, even when undergoing major operations, to have minimal pain and quick recovery.
