  • I am Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology and Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY. I have received several awards, including the International Psychogeriatrics Association Research Award (1991), and the American Psychiatric Association Award Jack Weinberg award in Geriatric Psychiatry (2014). My research includes pioneering studies on dysthymic disorder in the elderly, the interface between depression and cognition, early markers of Alzheimer’s disease, and treatment of psychosis and agitation in this disorder. I have been Principal Investigator on research grants from the National Institutes of Health and major foundations.
