He completed his fellowship in infectious disease and residency in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell Campus) after graduating from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1983. Dr. Allen established the speciality of Infectious Diseases in Singapore by establishing the training program and Department of Infectious Diseases there. David served as Partner and Managing Partner at ID Specialists and its prior iterations from 1994 -2021 in Dallas, Texas before returning to Singapore as Associate Vice President, Health Innovation and Translation Office and Associate Professor of Medicine, National University of Singapore. A/Professor Allen now serves as Deputy Executive Director of the National University of Singapore Centre for Population Health and Senior Consultant Physician, Infectious Diseases.
