David Gruenewald, MD, is a palliative medicine physician and geriatrician based in Seattle, WA. He completed his medical education at the University of Chicago and further training in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at the University of Washington. He serves as the Section Chief of the Palliative Care and Hospice Service at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. He is Co-Director of the Palliative Medicine Fellowship and Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Gruenewald has authored several publications, including articles in JAMA, The Journal of Palliative Medicine, and The Journal of Pain and Symptom Management. He has received multiple recognitions from the Department of Veterans Affairs for his contributions to electronic health record modernization and quality improvement projects in palliative care.
