  • Deana S. Shenaq, MD is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Medical Center. She serves as the Director of Microsurgery and Associate Program Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency & Fellowship. Dr. Shenaq has advanced fellowship training in both implant-based and autologous reconstruction after breast cancer and in microvascular techniques for lymphedema treatment, including lymph node transfer and lymphovenous bypass procedures. She specializes in lymphatic surgery and oncologic reconstruction following cancers of the breast, head and neck, skin, and lower extremity. She also performs aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body.

    Dr. Shenaq completed medical school at The University of Chicago, graduating with Honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. She a finished an integrated Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency at The University of Chicago Medical Center, and then pursued an advanced Fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she worked with nationally recognized experts in oncologic reconstruction.

    An active researcher, Dr. Shenaq has published extensively. Her current research interests include patient reported outcomes in breast reconstruction, surgical education and quality improvement. She is committed to international volunteerism, and continually participates in global microsurgical mission trips to provide quality surgical care to the underserved.
