Dr. Douglas Chonko is an orthopedic surgeon in Columbus, OH and is affiliated with The Ohio State University Medical Center. He holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Akron. He is a fellowship trained, Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. He received his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a 5 year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in Akron, Ohio and a one year fellowship in Adult Reconstruction (hip and knee replacement) with Drs. Mallory, Lombardi and Berend in Columbus, Ohio. He has been in practice 16 years. He has been the Chief of Surgery and Chief of Orthopaedics at 2 hospitals.

He specializes in hip & knee reconstructive surgery and is experienced in complex hip and knee problems including patients that have had multiple surgeries, painful hip and knee replacements, infections involving hip and knee replacements and stiff and swollen joint replacements. He has spoken nationally on topics including hip and knee infections, operative techniques and periprosthetic infections. His research interests include the prevention and elimination of hip and knee infections and the effects of opioids and narcotics on bone. He has performed thousands of hip and knee replacements including thousands of revision surgeries on patients experiencing difficulties with their hip and knees.
