    Doug is Professor and Chair of Health Systems Science at the Frist College of Medicine, Belmont University. He founded the Belmont Collaborative for Health Systems Innovation. The Collaborative is a global innovative hub for research, implementation, and scaling of transformative strategies to improve healthcare delivery and value, focusing on the longitudinal, whole-person health journey. Doug is also the inaugural holder of the HCA Healthcare Endowed Chair for Health Systems Science.

    Doug is the lead founder of LifePathEI, delivering an advanced agentic platform to empower individuals on their wellbeing journey.
    Doug spent five years at Advocate Aurora Health, serving as Chief of Surgical Services, providing direction and strategic guidance in defining a vision for surgical services across 27 hospitals, and driving advancements in patient care, reliability, value, and clinical training.
    Before that, he was at Tulane University for 21 years, culminating as Professor and Chair of Surgery. He led the transplant program, championing innovations in immunosuppression and minimally invasive surgery. His work improved healthcare throughout the Gulf South, including reducing disparities in access to care.
    Doug sits on the editorial boards of major medical journals, has nearly 40 referenced abstracts, and has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Health degrees at UC Berkeley and his Medical Degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Residency and fellowship training were at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Oxford, and Johns Hopkins
