  • Dovie Watson, MD, MSCE, AAHIVS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Senior Fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and Senior Scholar of the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Watson is physician-scientist who studies HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) implementation in the United States. Her clinical HIV research program focuses on accelerating equitable PrEP service delivery across different health care settings and addressing multi-level stigma and discrimination in sexual health, with particular attention to Black LGBTQ+ adults. She is the recipient of institutional grants and federal grants from the National Institutes of Health, including a Career Development Award (K23) from the National Institute of Mental Health, which an equity-focused implementation science grant to design and pilot test a novel multifaceted implementation strategy to address provider behaviors and organization-level practices that affect PrEP equity for Black patients in Philadelphia. Clinically, she practices as an Infectious Disease specialist, with a focus on HIV treatment and prevention.
