Summary
- I’m the Founder, CEO, and Medical Director of the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. I also founded the Paley European Institute in Poland, Paley Middle East Clinic in the UAE, and the Paley Latino Americano Institute in Colombia. My career has been devoted to advancing limb lengthening, deformity correction, and complex orthopedic surgery.
After training under Professor Gavriil Ilizarov, I introduced the Ilizarov method to North America in 1987. Since then, I’ve performed more than 25,000 surgeries and developed over 100 procedures—including the SUPERhip, SUPERknee, Paley XUNION, and Paley Rotationplasty. I also developed the CORA method for deformity correction and the Paley Growth Multiplier App, both now used globally.
I previously served as Professor and Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at the University of Maryland and founded the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore. From 2017–2021, I was honored to serve as Orthopedic Surgeon to the White House. I currently hold academic appointments at Florida Atlantic University and the University of Vermont.
My work has been published in 193 peer-reviewed articles, 73 book chapters, and 9 books. I’ve been named a Health Hero, Living Legend, and Most Influential Business Leader in Florida (2019–2023). Through the Paley and unLIMBited Foundations, I lead mission trips to bring complex orthopedic care to underserved children around the world.
