- Dr. Ellen Friedman is a hematologist based in Bronx, NY,and is a Professor Of Oncology and Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has subspecialty expertise in sickle cell and other anemias. She completed her medical education at New York University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine, and a fellowship in Hematology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Friedman is currently the Director of the Sickle Cell Program at Montefiore Medical Center, where she also served as Fellowship Director from 2005 to 2022. Her clinical experience includes sickle cell disease, curative therapy for that disease. In addition she treats other hematologic disorders including thrombosis, bleeding, cytopenias and bone marrow conditions. She has authored publications on topics such as transfusions for acute vaso occlusive events, also ADAMTS-13 deficiency causing strokes, atypical CML with ETV6-ABL1 mutation, venous thromboembolism post-COVID-19 vaccination, and the impact of hepatitis C on relapse-free survival in HIV-related lymphoma.
