Summary

  • After graduating with merit from the United States Naval Academy, I was accepted and graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. I then continued my medical training as a Naval Medical Officer in the United States Navy. I am currently an orthopeaedic surgeon specializing in complex shoulder arthroscopy, sports medicine and general orthopaedics.

I grew up south of San Antonio in Laredo, TX prior to accepting an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. I graduated with Merit from the Naval Academy before attending U.T. Southwestern Medical School where I received my Medical Degree. I completed an internship in General Surgery at Naval Hospital San Diego where I was chosen Surgical Intern of the Year. After serving two years as a general medical officer, I returned to Naval Hospital San Diego where I completed my residency in Orthopedic Surgery. My residency experience in San Diego included sports medicine, joint arthroplasty, as well as trauma training at the University of California San Diego and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

I returned to Texas to spend four years practicing general orthopedics and sports medicine while stationed in Corpus Christi, TX for the U.S. Navy. Upon completion of my Navy commitment I completed an Arthroscopic Shoulder Fellowship specializing in complex shoulder pathology with Dr. Stephen S. Burkhart of The San Antonio Orthopedic Group.

I have a special interest in the complex arthroscopic repair of shoulder conditions and injuries, knee arthroscopy, total shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, total knee replacement, and partial knee replacement.

I was honored to be nominated and named in SA Scene's list of SA Doctors: Best of 2014.
