Summary

  • I am a Clinical Professor at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, a member of the Division of Emergency Medicine, and Assistant Dean for Medical Education at NorthShore University Health System in Evanston, IL. I have served on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 2022. I served as the Alvin H. Baum Chair for Simulation and Innovation and the Co-Director of the Grainger Center for Simulation and Innovation from 2012-2021. I have developed expertise and innovations in the use of simulation medical training at all levels, as well as in interprofessional education. I am the founder of the American College of Emergency Physicians’ national Simulation-Based Immersive Medical (SIM) Training Course and the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians' Emergent Procedures Simulation Skills Lab. I have held several national leadership positions in regional and national educational organizations in Emergency Medicine. I serve as an Editor for the MyEMCert MOC program for ABEM, the Chair of the ABEM Continuing Certification Committee, an ABEM Oral Examiner, and an Item Writer. My educational leadership has been recognized with Faculty Teacher of the Year Awards from the University of Chicago Residency program on several occasions and in 2014, I was inducted as a Fellow of The Academy of Distingushed Medical Educators at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. I am the founder and Director of our Simulation Fellowship at NorthShore, one of the earliest simulation fellowships in the country. In my role as Assistant Dean for Medical Education, I work with all NorthShore teaching programs across the continuum to ensure excellence in the learning experiences of students and residents. I Chair the Education Council at NorthShore and participates in numerous committees that oversee the education process at NorthShore. In my spare time, I take care of my family and I race my bike.
