- Dr. Touzard Romo completed her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, followed by a NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral research fellowship focused on HIV and the infectious consequences of substance use at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.
She subsequently joined the Division of Infectious Diseases at Brown University Health and has served as Medical Director of Infection Control and Antibiotic Stewardship at Newport Hospital since 2016. Dr. Touzard Romo is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Clinical Educator Track at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
In her clinical role, she oversees both inpatient and outpatient infectious disease consultative services at Newport Hospital. She also provides HIV care and primary care to an underserved Hispanic population at the Miriam Hospital Immunology Center.
Her research interests center on diagnostic stewardship, hospital-acquired infections and prosthetic joint infections. In addition to her academic and clinical responsibilities, she serves as Co-Chair of the Rhode Island Department of Health Antimicrobial Stewardship and Environmental Cleaning Task Force.
