He earned his MD from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 1982, completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Minnesota in 1986, and completed a Fellowship in abdominal radiology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1987. In 2016, he was recognized as a Fellow by the American College of Radiology.
