- Gary Schaer, MD is a Chicago-based cardiologist specializing in interventional and general cardiology. He completed his medical education at Yale School of Medicine in 1979, followed by a residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiology at Georgetown University, and critical care medicine at the National Institutes of Health. Serving as a Professor of Medicine at Rush since 1989, he has expertise in managing coronary artery disease, cardiac catheterization, congestive heart failure, ST-elevation myocardial infarction, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Schaer has contributed multiple publications on cardiac regeneration and myocardial infarction repair. He has participated in clinical trials focusing on heart failure treatment and has been recognized as a Fellow by both the Society for Cardiac Catheterization and Interventions and the American Heart Association.
