  • Dr. Girish Sharma, a pediatric Pulmonologist is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at Rush University, Chicago. He retired as the chief of pediatric pulmonology and director of Rush Cystic Fibrosis Center. After the initial training in India (MB,BS, DCH and MD-Pediatrics) he completed residency in pediatrics in the UK, obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and worked as a research registrar at the Hospitals of Sick Children’s Great Ormond Street Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, London, UK before relocating to the US. He completed his fellowship and residency in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology at Case Western Reserve Univ/Univ Hospitals Cleveland /Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. He started the academic career an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Sharma developed expertise in the pulmonary management of neuromuscular disorders, asthma, cystic fibrosis contributed to the academic research, with significant works published in journals like Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, Pediatric Annals, Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatrics and Journal of Pediatrics, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He has more than 800 citations of his publications. He authored multiple chapters and was one of the associate editors for the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Policy Manual “Pediatric Pulmonology, 2nd Edition 2024. He is one of the editors and chief editors for the on-line texts eMedicine by WebMD and StatPearls.
