Summary

  • I am a board-certified general surgeon who grew up in and now practice in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. My medical degree is from UCLA, and I did a research fellowship at USC. I completed my general surgery internship and residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. When I went into private practice, I initially partnered with a prominent surgical oncologist in Century City, Hollywood, and Glendale. Later, I established my solo practice, Pacific Surgical Institute, in the South Bay. My initial focus had been primarily surgical oncology, but I have since expanded into a more typical case mix for a general surgeon. I still relish the challenging cancer cases, but I also enjoy doing hernias, gallbladders, and complex wound care to take advantage of my research focus. I did extensive research in wound healing and wrote an NIH RO1 grant. I now devote a significant portion of my time to this area. I have pursued further training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and I joined the staff at a comprehensive wound clinic to focus on wound healing and reconstruction. I would say my practice has been well-rounded. While I have not pursued a career in academia, I have enjoyed mentoring others, working with my peers, and addressing challenges in my leadership, administrative, and committee roles at the local hospitals. In my roles as Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, Chair of Bioethics, and others, I've enjoyed working with my peers to solve problems, establish best practices, and improve patient care.
