Summary
- Dr. Gregory Max Gosey MD, MAS is an orthopedic surgeon fellowship-trained in foot and ankle surgery; he practices with the Lewiston Orthopedics division of Catalyst Medical Group in northwestern Idaho.
Dr. Gosey takes general level-III orthopedic call at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Lewiston and operates at St. Joseph's as well as Lewis and Clark Outpatient Surgery. He does not currently operate at TriState hospital in 2025. He takes referrals to his Warner St. Lewiston clinic from a wide surrounding area including primarily northern Idaho and eastern Washington.
Areas of greatest clinical interest for Dr. Gosey include primarily adult foot and ankle problems including treatment of arthritis all throughout the foot and ankle, surgical and nonsurgical fracture care from the knee and downward, acquired deformities in adults--planovalgus, cavovarus, bread-and-butter forefoot problems such as bunion and hammertoe, and posttraumatic deformity--, tendinopathies about the foot and ankle (achilles, peroneal, posterior tibial, etc.), and select peripheral nerve problems. He is gradually gaining comfort with increasing complexity of total ankle replacements and associated adjuvant deformity correction procedures to optimize implant longevity.
Dr. Gosey works in concert with his podiatrist and wound care partners in town, generally deferring diabetic foot care and ongoing management of open wounds to them. His fellowship was well-balanced, emphasizing common chronic problems over severe acute trauma (comminuted/open talus/pilon fractures) and particularly Charcot, with which his familiarity is growing. Thus he does not hesitate to recommend a second opinion when appropriate and has sent patients to Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, and Boise.
Outside of his career, Dr. Gosey is passionate about skiing around the mountain West, sharing his enthusiasm with his wife and two young sons. In the summer months he spends time on the water and on the trails around Idaho with his family.
