Summary
- I am a first generation college graduate and double board certified surgeon in general surgery and surgical critical care. I have additional training in Health Systems and Policy earning a Masters degree in Public Health from Rutgers University. I will complete a Masters in Clinical and Translational Science degree in 2026, as part of a KL2 Career Development Award (CDA) mechanism funded by the National Center for Translational Science (2021-2023). I will continue on to an NIH NIDDK funded CDA 2023-2027. I have been afforded both of these awards as an aspiring clinical researcher that studies population-based data to inform etiologic models for digestive disease requiring emergency surgery. The main objective of my program of research is create / design of multi-level prevention efforts that help patients avoid ever needing emergency surgery (what I am clinically trained to perform).
