Heather Joy Shenkman MD FACC

Summary

• Dr. Heather Shenkman is a board-certified interventional and preventive cardiologist based in Encino, CA. She graduated from Albany Medical College in 1999 at the age of 23 through a six-year combined BS and MD program with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and then a cardiology fellowship at the University of Rochester followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at Tufts University in Boston.
  
  
  Dr. Shenkman is author of “The Vegan Heart Doctor's Guide to Reversing Heart Disease, Losing Weight, and Reclaiming Your Life”. While Dr. Shenkman is skilled at performing invasive procedures to open blocked arteries of the heart, she is a strong advocate for a healthy lifestyle, including plant-based eating and regular exercise.
  
  
  Staying active is a passion, and she is a two-time Ironman triathlon finisher. In her spare time, she enjoys Krav Maga and OrangeTheory classes.
  
  
  Dr. Shenkman serves as the Chair of the Cardiology division and the Well-Being Committee Chair at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.
