Summary

  • I am a neurosurgeon and Assistant Professor, Neurological Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. My research interests include the outcomes and value assessment in neurosurgery, evaluation of the role of the vestibular system in the development of spinal deformity, and innovations in patient safety. Other interests include narrative medicine (fiction and nonfiction writing related to medicine), particularly focusing on the process of training and developing surgeons, and how the transformation from layperson to surgeon impacts one’s ability to relate to patients, as well as to one’s own family and friends.
