- Ivo A. Pestana, M.D., Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Wake Forest University, received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed residency in general surgery at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center and affiliated hospitals. During his general surgery training, he completed research fellowships in transplantation immunology and trauma medicine. Dr. Pestana joined the the Wake Forest Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from Duke University Medical Center, where he completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery. During his plastic surgery training, Dr. Pestana completed rotations in hand surgery and microsurgery at the University of Louisville and The Christine M. Kleinert Institute. Dr. Pestana is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
