Dr. Duncan completed medical education at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, followed by an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at UCSF. She completed a fellowship in medical retina focusing on inherited retinal degeneration and age-related macular degeneration at the Scheie Eye Institute, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Duncan's experience includes working with conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, cone rod dystrophy, choroideremia, Stargardt disease, and enhanced S cone syndrome, as well as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disease. Significant publications include studies on high-resolution retinal imaging using adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy to image eyes of patients affected by retinitis pigmentosa and other retinal degenerations published in respected journals. Dr. Duncan has also been involved in clinical trials related to retinal diseases and has received recognition as a Gold Fellow from ARVO, among other certifications.
