Summary
- After completing her general surgery residency at Emory in 2006, Dr. Srinivasan joined our faculty. She was appointed director of surgical simulation and elective programs in 2011, and integrated a small groups simulation training model into the resident curriculum as an antidote to large-scale training sessions. In 2020 she assumed the role of general surgery residency Program Director after five years as Associate Program Director, and she is the Surgical Director of the Emory Crohn’s and Colitis Center.
Dr. Srinivasan manages various training opportunities at both the SOM's Center for Experiential Learning (EXCEL) and the Department of Surgery's own 24-hour simulation lab in the Office of Surgical Education, which is located in Emory University Hospital. She is surgical director of the Carlos & Davis Center for Surgical Anatomy and Tecnique (CSAT). CSAT is an Accredited Educational Institute (AEI) by the American College of Surgeons. In her role as program director, she helps to maintain and support the Emory Global Perioperative Alliance, to allow trainees with interest in global/rural health to pursue clinical and academic opportunities as residents.
She has been the recipient of multiple resident teaching awards (junior teaching award 2010, 2014, 2018; Amerson Chief Resident Teaching award 2014, Philip J Wolfson ASE Teaching Award 2020) and was selected as an Associate Member of the Academy of Master Educators in the American College of Surgeons in 2023.
