Summary

  • A clinical trialist, Clinical Specialist, and Fellow of the American Society of Hypertension and the American Heart Association, I retired as chief of primary care from federal service after 31 years at the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center in 2009. I presently run a consultative clinic for resistant and difficult-to control hypertension at MUSC (Medical University of Hypertension) in the division of cardiology. I am a hypertension specialist and currently conduct clinical trials in renal denervation as a means of controlling BP. In addition, I have been involved in large hypertension outcome trials including ALLHAT, ACCORD, SPRINT, ACCOMPLSH, ONTARGET and diabetes including ACCORD and REWIND and most recently, am the US National Leader for the SURPASS-CVOT with Tirzepatide vs Dulaglutide.
