Summary

  • An Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery & Neuroscience, I have served as the Director of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine since 2012. I specialize in surgical treatment for movement disorders, spasticity and pain. I am also a member of the Yale Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and an internationally recognized expert in epilepsy surgery and neuromodulation. Additionally, I served Yale-New Haven Hospital as the Director of Neurotrauma 2013-2020 and continue to serve on the Trauma Committee. I also direct a wide range of clinical, translational and basic science research as head of the Neural Systems, Memory and Epilepsy Laboratory. Our research, which is funded by the NIH and several private foundations, studies the neural and network mechanisms of epilepsy and movement disorders, the cognitive and memory effects of these disorders and the development of novel treatment options with an emphasis on new neuromodulation approaches and brain-computer interfaces. Our translational efforts range from the studying the mechanisms of consciousness, sensory and motor processing and cognitive and behavior testing with intracranial electrode recordings.
