Summary

Board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine, I practiced hospitalist medicine for a decade and palliative care for the most recent decade. I've guided patients with medical decision making across multiple settings - ICU, hospital, clinic, rehab, in patients' homes, and via telemedicine. Currently, I am the clinical medical director of palliative care in a county hospital in El Paso, Texas. I maintain a blog at realpalliativecare.com for the non-medical layperson, and I'm the author of Own Your Care: A Family Guide to Navigating Complex Illness, Declining Health, or Unexpected Prognosis, coming out April 4, 2023.
