Overview of Dr. Aljian
John Aljian, MD, is an ophthalmologist based in Hawthorne, NY, specializing in cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and eye trauma surgery. He did his undergraduate work with honors at Boston College, followed by a Masters Degree at Georgetown University. He completed his medical education with high honors at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 1991, and he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
This was followed by an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. He served as Chief of the Eye Trauma Service for 25 years, Surgeon Director, and President of the Medical Board at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. He received the John S. Herman, MD Memorial Award for Excellence in surgical teaching. Currently, he serves as an ophthalmologist at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College and holds the position of Medical Director and founding partner at Empire State Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Aljian is experienced in treating conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, and severe eye trauma. He has contributed to the field with several publications and has lectured internationally. He has received recognition Castle Connolly's Top Doctors in Westchester and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
