- John McDonnell, MD, MS is a Staff Physician in the Departments of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Cleveland Clinic. His clinical expertise centers on inborn errors of immunity, encompassing both immunodeficiency and immune dysregulation. Dr. McDonnell completed his pediatric residency at the National Capital Consortium and served for seven years as an active-duty pediatrician in the United States Navy, including overseas assignments. Following his military service, he pursued fellowship training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Cleveland Clinic, followed by an advanced fellowship in Primary Immunodeficiency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. During fellowship, he also earned a Master of Science in Biostatistics from Case Western Reserve University. His clinical and research interests include the care of children with complex immunodeficiencies, especially those managed with hematopoietic cell transplantation.
In addition to his clinical and research responsibilities, he is the co-host of "Immune Matters: a PIDTC Podcast".
