    I received all of my medical and surgical training over the course of 13 years at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester Minnesota. I graduated from Mayo Medical School in 1990, completed a General Surgery Residency at Mayo in 1996 and a Cardiothoracic Surgery residency in 1999. I served as General Surgery Chief Resident in 1995/1996 and Cardiac Surgery Chief Resident in 1998/1999.

    Two of my 13 years at the Mayo Clinic were devoted to basic science research as a Clinician Investigator Research Fellow.
