Dr. John Sinnott is a physician, educator, and innovator with over four decades of experience in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He previously served as Chief of Staff at Tampa General Hospital, Associate International Dean at the University of South Florida, and as Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at USF through 2023.
Cepurrently he is Medical Director of Global Medicine at Tampa General Hospital, working with Director Rocco Decicco to expand international patient care and advance medical diplomacy. He also serves as Senior Advisor to the Global Virus Network.
Dr. Sinnott has authored more than 200 publications, edited six books, and has been named to Best Doctors in America. He received the U.S. Patent Office’s Patents for Humanity Award, has been honored by the Princess of Thailand, awarded the Dunhuang Award in China, and been recognized by the Association of Practitioners of Indian Origin.
His career has combined clinical excellence with global infectious disease research and volunteerism. He is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence with clinical medicine. He is dedicated to positioning Tampa General Hospital as a trusted global destination for healthcare.
He holds medicine as a noble profession, whereby man’s effort to relieve suffering finds its highest expression. He regards the privilege of caring for patients as both an honor and a duty, and upholds medicine as a vocation dedicated to human dignity and the common good. He is a signatory to the declaration of Geneva ,2017.
