- Jonathan S, Berek, MD, MMSc is the Laurie Kraus Lacob Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, specializing in gynecologic oncology. Dr. Berek served as the Chair of the Stanford Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2005 to 2017. He is the Founding Director of the Stanford Women's Cancer Center and Senior Advisor at the Stanford Cancer Institute. He is the Co-Director of the Senior Academy of Stanford Medicine, and the President of the Stanford University Phi Beta Kappa.
Dr. Berek completed his residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital, now Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School, and his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at UCLA after obtaining his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Berek has expertise in gynecologic oncology and immunology research, which includes more than 380 peer-reviewed publications and more than a dozen books. He conducts clinical trials focused on ovarian and endometrial cancer treatments. He has received numerous honors including Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Cancer Society and the International Gynecologic Cancer Society. He is a Fellow in the Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Society of Clinical Oncologists.
