Summary

  • Dr. Leitenberger is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Surgery and the Co-Director of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Leitenberger specializes in skin cancer surgery, including Mohs micrographic surgery and subsequent reconstruction. He has advanced training in laser and cosmetic surgery, including laser skin resurfacing, scar revision, and injectable fillers and neurotoxins. Dr. Leitenberger is board-certified in both Dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery.

    He also serves as Associate Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship, where he teaches and supervises surgical fellows and residents in skin cancer treatments and advanced reconstruction.

    Dr. Leitenberger received his medical degree from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston, during which time he received the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship Award at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He completed both his dermatology residency and surgical fellowship subspecialty training at OHSU.

    Dr. Leitenberger has published over 80 peer-reviewed original articles, book chapters, and abstracts on the Mohs technique for melanoma, complex reconstruction, and prevention of complications after Mohs micrographic surgery. He has given over 70 national and international presentations and is regularly invited to speak at the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology. He is the past president of the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative.

    Outside of work, Dr. Leitenberger enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys exploring the beauty of the Northwest. He enjoys tennis, running, cycling, and kitesurfing.
