Dr. Olaniran earned his medical degree from the University of Lagos. He completed his residency at Lincoln Medical Center (Weill Cornell Medicine), where he served as Chief Medical Resident, followed by a Nephrology fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Concurrently, he earned a Master of Public Health from Harvard University, equipping him with the epidemiological expertise to lead large-scale clinical research.
As the Principal Investigator of the Sickle Cell Kidney (SCeK) Study, his NIH-funded research focuses on identifying novel biomarkers to predict early renal decline in sickle cell trait and sickle cell disease. By bridging clinical nephrology with robust translational data, Dr. Olaniran is dedicated to advancing precision medicine for sickle cell nephropathy.
