• Kabir Olaniran, MD, MPH, FASN is a physician-scientist, general nephrologist and Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in the renal complications of sickle cell disease. He runs the specialized Sickle Cell Kidney Clinic at UT Southwestern and Parkland, providing proactive, multidisciplinary care for this high-risk population.
  Dr. Olaniran earned his medical degree from the University of Lagos. He completed his residency at Lincoln Medical Center (Weill Cornell Medicine), where he served as Chief Medical Resident, followed by a Nephrology fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Concurrently, he earned a Master of Public Health from Harvard University, equipping him with the epidemiological expertise to lead large-scale clinical research.
  As the Principal Investigator of the Sickle Cell Kidney (SCeK) Study, his NIH-funded research focuses on identifying novel biomarkers to predict early renal decline in sickle cell trait and sickle cell disease. By bridging clinical nephrology with robust translational data, Dr. Olaniran is dedicated to advancing precision medicine for sickle cell nephropathy.
