    Dr. Samakar completed his general surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and was named Outstanding Surgeon of the Year in 2015. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

    An Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at both Keck Hospital of USC and LAC+USC Medical Center, Dr. Samakar is actively involved in surgical education and quality improvement. He currently serves as Vice Chair of Surgery at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and is the President of the California and Nevada Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

    Dr. Samakar has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on topics ranging from surgical technique to the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in clinical care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is widely recognized for his leadership and innovation in the field of bariatric surgery.
