- Dr. Thiran Jayasundera is a retina specialist who sees patients at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor. His clinical specialties include diseases of the retina and vitreous including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, macular diseases, age-related macular degeneration, and anti-angiogenic therapy and photodynamic therapy.
Dr. Jayasundera also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of inherited retinal degenerative diseases, including Stargardt disease, retinitis pigmentosa variants, cone dystrophies, and unusual retinal dystrophies requiring electrophysiological testing, as well as the management of inflammatory diseases (uveitis) affecting the posterior segment: vitritis, pars planitis, retinitis, and choroiditis.
His research focuses on genotype-phenotype correlations of inherited retinal diseases, predictors of disease progression, and outcome measures for therapeutic clinical trials.
