• Dr. Kara Barnett is a board-certified anesthesiologist specializing in ambulatory anesthesia and non-operating room anesthesia (NORA) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She serves as the Director of Anesthesia Services at MSK's Monmouth site, where she leads efforts to enhance patient safety, optimize perioperative pathways, and expand access to high-quality outpatient cancer care.
  
  Dr. Barnett holds multiple leadership roles at both institutional and national levels. She is a Director on the Board of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia (SAMBA), where she also chairs the Scientific Papers and NORA Committees. She also serves as the chair of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists Communications Committee. She is a frequent presenter at national and regional meetings for Anesthesiology, SAMBA, and PostGraduate Assembly.
  Her academic work includes peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, and educational content development, including SEE questions for the ASA. In addition to her clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Barnett serves as Chair of the MSK PONV Task Force, and physician leader of the MSK Lactation Task Force.
